Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand, with about half of those with depression also experiencing anxiety. Specific therapies and medications can help relieve the burden of anxiety, yet only about a third of people suffering from this condition seek treatment. Healthy eating helps children and young people cope more effectively with stress, better manage their emotions and get a good sleep — all of which assist learning. We know that good nutrition is associated with better mental health outcomes, whereas a poor diet is associated with a greater risk of depression and anxiety. You probably know that the food you eat affects your body. Many studies have shown the connection between your food choices and your overall health. Eating a nutritious diet helps you keep a healthy body weight and a healthy heart. It also helps reduce your risk of developing some chronic diseases.
